The Fight On H.I.V/AIDS continues.

It's nice to see that even though we are still dealing with the "war against terrorism" in Iraq, our government is still fighting the war on HIV/AIDS. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards are all candidates for the presidency in 2008, who claim they have a new plan to help slow down the growing HIV epidemic not just in the US but also the rest of the world. Lets just hope that whoever wins will keep their word instead of just making the promise. Clinton proposes to spend $50 bill on the global fight of HIV and AIDS. This is $20 Billion more than the Bush administration. She also wants to double the money for H.I.V/AIDS research at the National Institutes of health to $5.2 billion a year.


You may be thinking that Hillary is wrong by asking for more money to help this fight. Yes, this country faces a huge deficit but how much of that money is being wasted on an unnecessary war. All the money Bush has asked for could have been used to find a cure by now.


I think Hillary is on the right track by proposing to give more money towards the HIV/AIDS fight. This Country spends way too much money on things, like the war, and doesn't on more important issues. I think we need a reality check. HIV/AIDS effects everyone in the world even if you are fortunate enough not to have it. I just hope that whoever gets the presidency keeps their end of the bargain.

A scary thought...

It is very scary to think that the little bit of voting power we do get in this country could be taking away instantly, but it doesn't surprise me. As we discussed in class, we don't vote for the president, we vote for a party to do that for us. One day the entire voting system will crack and we'll have to start from square one. Until then we'll just keep trying to patch up problems as they come along. This is obviously a huge crack in the system. You'd think they would have this fixed by now. People hack votes, bank accounts? What else are people hacking into.Is anything private anymore? Its a scary thought. Makes me want to start putting money under my mattress and start my own little account.
