Bush Vetos Child Health Care Expansion Bill

10/03/07

Today President Bush vetoed a bill that would increase the state health insurance program for children. The Democrats will try to override the veto, but if they can't it will put a cloud over presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton's health Plan. The presidential elections are coming up and Democratic voters will start to wonder if they're on the right team, if they can't even overcome the president on a bipartisan bill. They already can't change the war in Iraq.

Bush may appear to be somewhat of a goof, but I think this a deliberate attempt on his part to make this election process a little harder for the democrats. Why wouldn't He want the best for the American youth? That should come before everything else. He has spent way too much money fighting a war that his own country doesn't support. We don't even know why we're still in Iraq. It’s very frustrating to think that our own president would rather spend money on fighting than taking care of issues we have on home ground first. Yes, we are in a huge deficit. But let’s be honest, our country will always have that. There needs to be more compassion towards the American people and what we need. If Bush doesn't have that, then why is he our president? Isn't he supposed to represent us? How can I, as an American citizen, be proud of my country when I don't know if the man who is meant to lead us to a better tomorrow, is more concerned with war than his country's children? To be honest, I'm not. I'm not proud of our nation and our so called "democracy". I think that the hire powers have forgotten what this country stands for and needs to review the bill of rights. Our Founding Fathers would bow their heads in shame. This is not the America they fought so hard to keep. "Of the People, By the People, From the People." Remember that President Bush?
